The folks at Vicomsoft are porting the full range of Internet Gateway features to Mac OS X to offer a comprehensive suite of Internet access security, management and control tools for this new operating system, according to General Manager Alan Hart. Vicomsoft will demonstrate a pre-release version of the Internet Gateway running on Mac OS X at next week’s Macworld Conferences & Expo in New York City.
Internet Gateway is a suite of applications designed to provide homes, small offices, businesses and schools with the ability to safely share Internet connections. It lets users connect all their networked computers to the Internet through one secure account. Internet Gateway is designed to offer protection (via a firewall), connectivity (the ability to share one Internet account across a network), management (you can set access and time controls, as well as monitor network activity), and adaptability (it can be upgraded as a company or user’s needs grows).
“This combination of our proven software with the Unix-based stability of Mac OS X and legendary Macintosh ease of use will provide a compelling solution for all who are looking for a secure, manageable, high performance Internet access server,” Hart said. “We have transferred the complete routing engine to Mac OS X and we have Carbonized major user interface elements.”
